We setted up booths that can be enjoyed with five senses for each job type

In our event, there are booths where exhibitions and sales as well as demonstrations
and experiences can be held for each field of Clothing" "Food" "Living" "Manufacturing".
Approximately 50 organizations and companies exhibited from about 50 occupations.

Mounting

We present the finesse of hyougu-kyouji (artisans in charge of mounting scrolls) which has been passed down for more than 1000 years, through demonstrations given by highly skilled artisans and display such as hanging scrolls. Do come in touch with our amazing technology, using glue and Japanese paper.

  • You can experience making "Karakuri (gimmicky) Mini Folding Screen" that opens vertically and horizontally.

Demonstration

  • Hanging scrolls, folding screens, and fusuma works are exhibited, from traditional ones to well-designed ones.

Liquid-applied membrane waterproofing

Waterproofing works are to protect buildings from water’s invasion. We carry out practical trade skill tests of waterproofing works entrusted by Tokyo Metropolitan Government. At our booth, you can experience the making of original cell-phone strap using urethane waterproof material.

Chair upholstery

This is an association of Certified Skilled Workers with the purpose of improving social status of the Workers through learning new techniques, exchanging information, socializing, and dispatch facts on our skills. We specialize in the chair upholstery, and at the venue we give demonstration, display and offer hands-on experience.

  • You can experience upholstering a chair for sitting on one’s knees.

  • Craftsmen will upholster a chair in three days, using the upholstery skill.

Bedding

We will give demonstrations of cotton futon making by seasoned artisans, place display, offer hands-on experience of making small cushion under the tutorial of Certified Skilled Workers, in addition to answering to your questions regarding bedding and sleeping.

  • You can experience processes from stuffing cotton into a small cushion to finishing.

Tile roofing

It is an organization aimed at inheriting the tile roofing tradition, improving skill and cultivating craftsmen. Demonstration by tile roofing craftsman, installation experience and commemorative shooting, "Tile coasters" will be sold.

Japanese traditional musical instruments

We will give demonstrations of production of Shamisen, Shakuhachi, Shinobue flute, Matake-bue flute, Noh-kan flute and tsuzumi drum. Our five masters will present the making of these Japanese instruments by traditional method. Those who want to touch these Japanese musical instruments can also do so.

Metal processing

We will give demonstrations of sphere manufacturing utilizing metal’s malleability and ductility; we will also display and sell processed goods made of sheet copper. Visitors can experience the wonder of sheet metal processing through experience-based learning using sheet metal tools.

Painting

Tiles

Tiles are building materials with a long history which have been used in pre-era Egypt’s pyramids, and they still decorate architecture and housing to this day. At the booth, you can enjoy tile art works and enjoy the making of mosaic coaster.

Do come in touch with Japan’s traditional craftsmanship of “Insho Chokoku (stamp carving)” and stamp culture unique to Japan through our artisans’ demonstrations and hands-on experience of making your original stamp.

Fittings

Fittings based on Japanese climate, culture, and history. They represent Japan’s art and spirit. In this "Takumi no Waza Expo," we will give demonstrations of finesse such as making of shoji (paper sliding doors) for tearooms by artisans, in addition to organizing hands-on experiences of assembling fretted ornament under the guidance of artisans.

Construction carpenters

We are Zenken Soren Tokyo-to Rengokai (National Federation of Construction Workers’ Unions, Tokyo Branch) consisting of carpenters, plasterers, landscape gardeners, etc. This year also, enjoy our traditional architecture and woodwork classroom. We will do our best for your further enjoyment.

Plasterers

We will display the structure of a wall finished in “Otsu polish,” one of the top class final coatings. You can also enjoy demonstrations of Namakokabe (a wall with geometrical pattern made of tiles and plaster) and Giboku (imitation trunk) by artisans as well as hands-on experience of plastering and making sparkling mud balls.

Woodwork painting

Certified Skilled Association of Woodwork Painting is an organization that specializes in painting wood products. We will exhibit and sell painted woodwork. You can also make chopsticks of red lacquer with engravings (Tsui-shu) or coaster, and paint Daruma tumbling doll; other than that, you can enjoy watching demonstration of mirror finish.
