  Arranging the colors of the Fumizuki

  You will see Ikebana demonstration by Hiroyama Okada, a master artisan from the Hiroyama school. The Hiroyama school is known for its natural style, such as its arrangement of wild flowers. We will introduce various techniques that make flowers and plants last longer during the demonstration. Enjoy the space of healing and relaxation that spreads across the stage.

  Openwork Sculpting of Ice Statues and Flowers

  • Zenkoku Nihon Chori Ginoushikai Rengokai

  Ice sculpting was a skill originally utilized to sculpt anything from small tablewares to making enormous ice sculptures at western-style party venus. On stage, the finishing touches of the ice statue, waterworks of flowers with grooves in the ice pillars and pouring in the pigment will be demonstrated by 2016 world champion Hideo Kase.

  Watch former kickboxer Masato challenge in the authentic carpentry skill of "Ari-Kake (joint connection)!"

  A special stage by a master carpenter and former kickboxer Masato, the official supporter of the 2019 Monozukuri - A Celebration of Japanese Artisanal Techniques.
  A demonstration will be performed in which two teams, the Masato & Carpenter's Team" and the "ALL Carpenter's Team" will compete for the workmanship of the Ari-Kake (dovetailing), a basic skill in architectural carpentry."

  A mini-show to glimpse into the Taisho-Roman era and the eyes and needle handles of middle-schoolers

  A mini-show on stage to show the Taisho-Roman era and demonstrate the appeal of Japanese dressmaking, as well as the beauty of kimonos by a performance of the needle-handle by middle-schoolers.

  The world of craftsmanship in the skills of the Kumiko-Saiku (vaulted and fretted)

  We will show the production of the "Kumiko," said to be the highest pinnacle in the skill of wood joinery. "Kumiko" is one of the most elaborate and delicate of the manufacturing techniques. It is said to be the most difficult in the world of wood processing.

  Continuing on from last year, the Koma Taisen will be held at the "2019 Monozukuri - A Celebration of Japanese Artisanal Techniques" A no-holds-barred competition between the Komas of students and town factories. Will the town factory avenge their loss from last year, or will the students win for the second year consecutively?
